Uganda: Empower + Restore

Wrestling for Peace Ambassadors Austin Landes and Larry Steckman have embarked on a transformative journey in collaboration with Robert and Pamela Kiggundu, the visionary founders of Hope for Restoration Initiative (H4RI). Together, they are pioneering efforts to combat gender-based violence and uplift communities through empowerment and education.

At the core of mission lies a commitment to addressing the pervasive issue of sexual abuse and gender-based violence that plagues many regions of Uganda. Robert and Pamela Kiggundu, driven by a deep sense of compassion and justice, established the initiative as a platform for healing and restoration. Their work extends beyond mere intervention; it seeks to foster lasting change by empowering survivors and addressing the root causes of violence.

One of the initiatives is the production and distribution of country-approved reusable sanitary pads. In many parts of Uganda, access to menstrual hygiene products is limited, leading to significant challenges for girls and women, including missed school days and compromised health. By providing sustainable and hygienic solutions, H4RI not only ensures menstrual health but also promotes dignity and empowerment among girls and women.

As Wrestling For Peace Ambassadors, Landes and Steckman bring a wealth of experience and a shared commitment to social justice. Their collaboration underscores the power of partnerships in driving meaningful change on both local and global scales. Through their partnership with H4RI, they have engaged a multifaceted approach to address the complex challenges faced by communities in Uganda. From participating in weekly school outreaches to empowering young girls through educational initiatives, their efforts are making a tangible difference in the lives of individuals and communities.

Pamela Kiggundu plays a pivotal role in spearheading these initiatives. Her dedication to women's empowerment and her tireless advocacy for survivors of gender-based violence have earned her widespread respect and admiration. Pamela has adopted a holistic approach to counseling and support addressing the multifaceted needs of individuals impacted by violence and trauma.

Together, Landes, Steckman, and Robert and Pamela Kiggundu embody the spirit of collaboration and compassion that is essential for fostering peace and prosperity in communities affected by conflict and injustice. Their work serves as a testament to the transformative power of grassroots initiatives and the profound impact that can be achieved through collective action.

As Wrestling For Peace Ambassadors, they stand as living embodiments of hope, resilience, and solidarity. Their partnership transcends geographical boundaries and cultural barriers, uniting individuals and communities in a shared pursuit of justice and reconciliation.
